Job Description:
Professional Irving, TX USA Job Description SUMMARY: Responsible
for overseeing the legal affairs of the organization, helping to
interpret the law while providing expert guidance to managers,
executives and volunteer leadership. Duties and Responsibilities:
Works closely with the CEO, executive team and the Board of
Directors, focusing on legal strategy, risk management, and
ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Reviews
and negotiates vendor and other business contracts, and analyzes to
identify potential risks, ambiguities and discrepancies that may
impact the organizations interests. Reviews all services offered by
the organization to ensure they remain compliant with any relevant
regulations. Monitors changes in legislation and regulatory issues,
advising on potential impacts and necessary actions. Works with the
VP of Government Affairs to provide advocacy on matters of public
policy Studies any active litigation and consults with outside
attorneys and/or attorneys at the state and national level as
needed. Prepares, coordinates and presents training seminars on
legal issues for staff and board members, including through
instructional videos, webinars, and at annual conference and other
training workshops conducted at the local, state or national level.
Develops policies and procedures for contract management and
governing document management, and helps each department of the
organization understand their legal obligations. Reviews regulatory
and tax filings and ensures there are proper document retention
policies in place in all areas of the organization. Maintains
digital record-keeping systems in accordance with company policy
and maintains safekeeping of company documents and records.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the CEO. SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: J.D. and license to practice law in the state of
Texas A minimum of 1-3 years of related experience and/or training
in at least one or more of the following practice areas is strongly
preferred: corporate law and governance, nonprofit management,
contract law, administrative law, federal grant management, and/or
tax-exempt organization law. Experience in the real estate or
association sectors a plus Computer skills required: Computer
skills required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g.
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Other skills required: Ability to
approach legal problems with creativity and strategic thinking.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent
legal research, writing, and presentation skills Demonstrated
ability to effectively translate legal concepts into lay terms
(oral and written) Strong interpersonal skills and professional
judgment. Exceptional work ethic and attention to detail. Proven
capability to take initiative, handle a variety of tasks, set
priorities, and manage multiple deadlines. Versatility,
flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing
priorities with enthusiasm. COMPETENCIES: Adaptability - Adapts to
