Job Summary

• Assist Unit Director with management and coordination of patient care and staff development
• Provides direct care to patients on assigned unit using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Functions and performs all technical aspects of nursing care within the framework of established policies and procedures of PRMC
• Responsible for managing care of assigned patients and guiding and directing the activities of ancillary staff
• May function as a charge nurse
• Functions on the nursing unit as assistant to the physician Qualifications
  
  Education
  • ADN degree or higher in nursing required. BSN, preferred. Licenses/Certification
    • Current State license or Compact State License (if lives outside of TX) required.
    • BLS - required upon hire and continuously thereafter.
    • ACLS - required within 3 months of hire and continuously thereafter. PALS - required within 3 months of hire and continuously thereafter. Handle with Care - required within 6 months of hire and annually thereafter.
    • TNCC - required within 12 months of hire and annually thereafter.
    • Certified Professional of Patient Safety - preferred. CEN Certification - preferred. Experience
      • 2-4 years emergency nursing experience preferred
      • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
      • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
      • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and to conduct self in a courteous and professional manner
      • Ability to guide and direct activities and staff to provide optimal patient care
      • Utilizes the nursing process as a framework for patient care while recognizing the dignity and worth of each patient
      • Collaborates with other health care members to maintain a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
